1)In the very beginning, I tried doing NPC missions because I thought they would be fun, and they would teach me how to play EVE. After doing about 3 missions, I got to a mission called "DRONE HARASSMENT" I thought this was a newb mission but apparently it's next to impossible for someone like me... These drones which are listed to be of a very low threat level simply "own" me! My turret cant hit them and the damage is virtually nonexistent.
My friend lent me some money so I could get a Tristan.. I did that, equipped the new ship with a cheap railgun, some iron ammo, got an armor repair module, and a civilian shield. Went back to the drones.. NO DIFFERENCE! I'm still getting owned, my weapons cant score a hit. Yes, I understand that in order to do high damage and score more hits one must train the corresponding skills, but c'mon! This is supposed to be a newbie mission designed to teach people how to play the game! how am I supposed to learn if I cannot even handle the beginner stuff?!
2)I thought I'd try my hand in pirate hunting... The guide says find an asteroid field in a 0.8 area and patrol the field. The pirates will be there... I "patrolled" about 20 different fields already but found only 4 pirates, 2 of which didn't "drop" anything... Is there any way to find pirates more often without having to go to more dangerous areas?
3)Tried mining.... Even with cheap cargo upgrades I can only haul about 8k ISK worth of Veldspar. That's practically nothing and not worth the time it takes to make the trip back and fourth.
4)I trained my Gallente skill and got my 1st Iteron industrial ship.(again with my friend's money)
Opened market window... found a seller for "reports". Found a buyer too. Bought around 42000 reports and made the trip to the buyer. When I got there(it was only 3 jumps) I found out that the buyer no longer needs even a quarter of those reports, and doesnt offer even half of the price offered initially. Now I'm stuck with 42000 reports and 5 million ISK wasted. (good thing my friend doesnt care about the wasted money) I understand the merchant business is not easy, but I thought I could at least do something as simple as buy low and sell to a buyer that pays higher. Waht is it that I am doing so wrong?
On top of everything my Iteron is painfully slow. I know merchant ships are slow, but this is BEYOUND SLOW! It literally takes around 5-7 minutes from the end of warp bubble to a gate jump every time!
Any tips/advice - greatly appreciated.
PS: You are probably wondering why is it that my friend doesnt advise me himself.. Well, he is not good at explaining things it seems. His patience runs out very quickly.
